Confirmation Art from our sixth class pupils.

31/3/20

Over the past few weeks the children have been learning about World War 2 and the main events that happened during this time, one of which was the London Blitz. The London Blitz was a German bombing campaign against the U.K which began on the 7th of September 1940 and lasted until the 11th of May 1941. London was systematically bombed for 56 days and nights by the luftwaffe (German airforce). The term 'The Blitz' was first used by the British press and is the German word for lightning. More than 40,000 civilians were killed by Luftwaffe.

The children researched the events of the Blitz looking up stories, photo evidence, eyewitness accounts and videos on the Ipads and typed up reports of what happened.

They also made a silhouette of London during the Blitz by cutting out and sticking black sugar paper onto an orange/ red background to create a night scene of the Blitz.
